Brian K. Tackett

Brian Tackett was born on a military base in Bossier City, La., in 1971. After being stationed at various military installations around the world, Brian’s family settled in Willow Park, Texas.

After graduating form Aledo High School in 1990, Brian entered the University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. While attending the University of Texas, Brian worked at Mithoff & Jacks, LLP, a personal injury law firm with a national reputation. It was there where Brian developed an interest in the law.

In 1995, Brian began attending the Texas Tech University School of Law. Brian chose Texas Tech because of the practical nature of its curriculum and great reputation for developing attorneys with the ability to practice law rather than attorneys adept at legal theory. While at Texas Tech, Brian participated in mock trial, moot court and other competitions geared toward developing real-world attorneys. Brian graduated from Texas Tech with a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1998.

Brian began his career as an assistant district attorney in Denton County, Texas, where he rose to the rank of chief prosecutor in County Criminal Court No. 3 and County Criminal Court No. 4. While at the DA's office, Brian acted as lead counsel in hundreds of trials, both misdemeanors and felonies, and began developing his reputation as an aggressive trial attorney.

In the fall of 2000, Brian began working at Berry, Byrne & Randall as a medical malpractice defense attorney. He handled dozens of cases, learned the complicated legal and factual aspects of civil litigation and learned many skills that he applies to his practice today.

On Jan. 2, 2002, Brian founded the law firm of TackLegal, P.C. At that time, the firm concentrated its practice on family law, criminal defense and personal injury. Today, Brian Tackett's practice focuses entirely on family law and criminal defense.

Brian has devoted his career to representing persons confronted with legal dilemmas that could forever affect their future. First and foremost a trial attorney, Brian has taken hundreds of cases before juries and judges alike and will not back down from a fight.

For Brian, a family law practice poses an interesting dichotomy. Unfortunately, most people do not need an attorney unless their lives are in some kind of turmoil. Brian recognizes the sensitive positions in which his clients find themselves. Still, he is deeply passionate and greatly enjoys representing his clients, viewing his work as an opportunity to make difference in people's lives.

Brian approaches his cases from the perspective of client empowerment. Throughout this process, he educates his clients on the options for proceeding with the case, the potential risks and benefits of each option, and the probable outcomes. Only when the client is sufficiently educated on those issues can he or she make an informed decision on how to proceed with the case.
